The PulsePoint AED app serves as a vital tool for building and mobilizing a comprehensive registry of life-saving devices, directly empowering communities to improve cardiac arrest survival rates. By allowing users to easily locate, record, and update the locations of publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), the app ensures that this critical data is available to both 911 telecommunicators and bystanders during emergencies. Beyond just mapping devices, the app actively engages citizens by alerting subscribers—including off-duty professionals and neighborhood volunteers—when a cardiac arrest occurs nearby, guiding them to the closest AED. Additionally, it helps maintain the registry’s accuracy by enabling users to report issues like missing devices or closed businesses, and even catalogs co-located resources such as Bleeding Control Kits and Naloxone, creating a robust safety net for the entire community.
The app is designed to build, manage, and mobilize a comprehensive registry of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). By crowdsourcing the locations of these devices, the app ensures that 911 telecommunicators and nearby citizens can easily find life-saving equipment during a cardiac emergency.
You can use the app to record and share the location of AEDs you see in your community. If you find a device that is already in the registry but has a problem—such as a closed business or the AED is missing—you can report these issues directly through the app to help keep the data accurate.
Yes. The registry can also manage and display “co-located” resources that might be kept in the same cabinet or location as the defibrillator, including Bleeding Control Kits, Naloxone (Narcan®), and Epinephrine (EpiPen®).
When a cardiac arrest occurs near a registered AED, the system can send an alert to subscribers (such as neighborhood volunteers or off-duty professionals) requesting that they retrieve the specific AED and deliver it to the patient. These alerts include a photo of the device and its exact location to speed up the response.
